Akobeghian

Wilson Ehigiator Akobeghian, better known by his stage name Akobeghian or "the music oracle," is a Benin City-born musician, actor, and cultural advocate celebrated for blending traditional Edo music with contemporary storytelling. Born on May 20, 1972, as the eighth child in his family, he adopted the pseudonym "Akobe Eghian" (meaning "the trap of the enemy"), later playfully reimagined by fans as "Akobe nu mi ni igho" ("the trap that catches money") to reflect his growing success. With a career spanning over three decades starting in 1992, he’s renowned for theatrical performances that promote Benin culture, though he’s expressed frustration over limited government support for indigenous-language artists. While best known for tracks like those in his recent tributes and culturally rooted releases (*Tribute To Mr Solo B*, *Tesu Hukua*, *Oseh*), Akobeghian has vowed to keep making music indefinitely, calling it his lifelong passion.

A self-described "musician and film actor who can be paid to play any role," he balances energetic live shows with mentoring younger artists, often adapting his style to bridge generational tastes—whether performing classic highlife for older audiences or experimenting with newer genres. His YouTube channel and interviews reveal a charismatic performer dedicated to preserving Edo traditions while staying relevant in Nigeria’s fast-evolving entertainment scene.
