Daniel Giglberger

Daniel Giglberger is a German classical musician born in 1972 in Freising, Germany. He is widely recognized as a concertmaster and conductor, currently serving as concertmaster of the Munich Chamber Orchestra since 1999. His musical education includes studies with renowned teachers such as Christoph Poppen, Donald Weilerstein, and Gerhard Schulz, supplemented by masterclasses from distinguished artists like Franco Gulli and Miriam Fried. Giglberger has also been awarded scholarships including those from the European Mozart Foundation and the Karl Klingler Stiftung.

In addition to his work as a concertmaster, Giglberger is an accomplished conductor, known for leading performances without a conductor and focusing on repertoire from the 17th to the 20th century. He has collaborated with ensembles like Les Vents Français, notably conducting Mozart’s and other classical sinfonia concertante works, and holds associated conductor positions with orchestras such as the Münchener Kammerorchester and the Haydn Philharmonie. His recordings include "Concertante!" with Les Vents Français and the Munich Chamber Orchestra, as well as chamber music works like "Frühling: Piano Quintet in F-Sharp Minor, Op. 30 & Piano Quartet in D Major, Op. 35." Giglberger's approach combines deep knowledge of historical performance practice with a creative and dynamic interpretation style.
