Angel Witch

Angel Witch is a British heavy metal band that formed in London in 1977, during the height of the New Wave of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) movement. Carving out a niche with their self-titled debut album "Angel Witch" in 1980, they became known for their dark lyrical themes, intricate guitar work, and operatic vocals. Despite a warm reception by fans of the genre and a cult following, mainstream success eluded the band, partly due to numerous lineup changes and the fierce competition within the heavy metal scene of the early 1980s.

With the turn of the century, Angel Witch experienced a resurgence, buoyed by a growing interest in classic metal and the enduring strength of the NWOBHM legacy. The band’s more recent work, including the critically acclaimed "As Above, So Below" (2012), and their latest full-length offering "Angel of Light" (2019), reflects a matured sound that still pays homage to their early days. Despite the decades, Angel Witch has maintained a signature blend of brooding melodies and robust riffs, with founding member Kevin Heybourne at the helm, ensuring the spirit of their early work is alive in the new material. The release of anniversary editions and live singles like "The Sorceress (Live)" showcases the band's commitment to their roots while celebrating their enduring presence in the heavy metal scene.
