Nine Lashes

Nine Lashes is an American Christian rock band formed in Birmingham, Alabama, in 2006. The group, named after the Roman method of whipping, 'cat o' nine tails,' as a reference to the suffering and sacrifice of Jesus, initially began in the Christian rock scene with a more post-grunge sound. They quickly established themselves with their gritty, melodic approach and their ability to layer introspective lyrics with hard-hitting music. Their breakthrough came when they signed with Tooth & Nail Records, with which they released the album "World We View" in 2012. Featuring the single "Break the World," the album achieved considerable success in the Christian market and helped solidify their presence in the genre.

Expanding their sonic palette over the years, Nine Lashes has released several albums, each exhibiting a commitment to evolving their sound while staying true to their message of hope and redemption. The later albums, such as "From Water to War" and "Ascend," saw the band lean more towards an electronicore style, incorporating electronic music elements with their standard rock foundation. Despite the changes in production and style, the band's core—Jeremy Dunn (vocals), Jared Lankford (bass), Adam "Tank" Jefferson (guitar), and Jonathan Jefferson (drums)—remained focused on creating music that resonates with their fans both musically and spiritually. Their collection of recent releases, including "Among the Stars," "Follow," "Rise," and "Guilty Hands," showcases their ability to blend anthemic choruses with heartfelt messages, cementing their status as a mainstay in the Christian rock music scene.
