Ron Goodwin

Ron Goodwin was an English composer and conductor known for his prolific work in film and television music. Born in Plymouth, England, in 1925, Goodwin began his musical career as a trumpeter in the Royal Air Force band during World War II. After the war, he studied composition at the Royal Academy of Music and went on to become one of the most sought-after composers in the British film industry. Goodwin's compositions are characterized by their sweeping melodies, lush orchestrations, and evocative use of brass and percussion. He is best known for his scores for films such as "633 Squadron" (1964), "Frenzy" (1972), and "Valhalla" (1983), as well as the television series "The Saint" (1962-1969). Goodwin received numerous awards and accolades throughout his career, including an Academy Award nomination for his score for "633 Squadron." He passed away in 2003, leaving behind a legacy of iconic and memorable film and television music.
