Naseem Alatrash is a highly acclaimed Palestinian cellist, composer, and studio musician based in Boston. Born in Beit Sahour in 1991, he began his cello studies at the age of 12 at the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music in Palestine. He later received a full scholarship to attend Berklee College of Music, where he earned his Bachelor's, Master's, and a post-master's fellowship. Known for his "particularly lustrous tone" (Chicago Tribune), Alatrash's performances blend traditional Arabic music with influences from jazz and contemporary classical genres. He has appeared at numerous prestigious festivals, including the Newport Jazz Festival and the Abu Dhabi Music Festival, and has performed at notable venues like the Kennedy Center and the Royal Albert Hall. Alatrash is also a member of the Global Messengers ensemble and works with other renowned musicians.
Alatrash's career is marked by significant achievements, including being awarded String Player of the Year twice in Palestine and receiving the Marcel Khalife Award. He is a lecturer at several prestigious American universities and has been involved in projects like the Grammy-nominated album "Crisalida" by Danilo Pérez and the Global Messengers. As an educator, he directs musical ensembles at Tufts University and Longy School of Music.
