Luis Díaz

Luis Díaz, also known as Luis "El Terror" Días or Luis Días Portorreal, was a Dominican musician, composer, and performer born on June 21, 1952, in Bonao, Dominican Republic. He was a pioneering figure in Dominican music, often referred to as the "Father of Dominican Rock" due to his innovative fusions of rock, reggae, jazz, and blues with over 40 traditional Dominican and Haitian rhythms like merengue, bachata, and mangulina.

Días came from a musical family - his father was a tres player and his mother a singer. He formed his first band at 16 and later became part of influential groups like Convite and Madora. Throughout his career, Días released several albums, taught workshops on Dominican traditional music in New York, and collaborated with international artists. He passed away on December 8, 2009, in Santo Domingo, leaving behind a rich musical legacy that significantly impacted Dominican popular and alternative music.
