Overhead, The Albatross

Overhead, The Albatross is an Irish instrumental post-rock band from Dublin, founded in 2009. The band's name is inspired by a line from Pink Floyd's song "Echoes." They have performed at several notable festivals, including Electric Picnic and Castlepalooza. Their music often features a blend of guitars, drums, and keyboards, creating a dynamic and emotive sound. Overhead, The Albatross released their debut album, *Learning to Growl*, in 2016, which was nominated for the Choice Music Prize. The band's lineup includes Vinny Casey, Stevie Darragh, Ben Garrett, Luke Daly, and David Prendergast. In 2024, they released their second album, *I Leave You This*.

The band's sound subtly bridges the gap between the familiar and the extraordinary in post-rock, intertwining strings, electronics, and synths with the raw energy of guitars and drums. Overhead, The Albatross has undergone a reflective hiatus and has re-emerged as a quartet, signaling their evolution in the instrumental landscape. Their recent releases include singles like "Paul Lynch" from their album *I Leave You This*, showcasing their continued growth and creativity in the genre.
