Penfriend

Penfriend is the musical project of Laura Kidd, a British singer-songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist previously known for her work under the monikers She Makes War and as a member of the band The Young Punx. With Penfriend, Kidd crafts emotionally resonant alt-rock and indie pop songs, blending sharp lyricism with lush, layered production. Her music often explores themes of connection, resilience, and hope, delivered with a deeply personal touch.

Debuting the Penfriend project in 2020, Kidd launched it in a truly independent spirit, building a direct relationship with her audience through her mailing list and community platform. Her debut album as Penfriend, Exotic Monsters, was released in 2021 and received acclaim for its bold sound and introspective songwriting.
