Ara Ketu

Ara Ketu is an influential Brazilian musical group that is rooted in the traditions of Bahia’s Carnaval. Their music, an electrifying blend of Afro-Brazilian rhythms with pop and reggae, has made an indelible mark on the Axé music scene. Originating from the Periperi neighborhood of Salvador in the state of Bahia, the group was founded in 1980 and named after the Ara Ketu Afro-Bloc, a Carnival group of which they were a part. Their performances are renowned for their vibrant energy, colorful costumes, and infectious beats that command crowds to dance.

Throughout their prolific career, Ara Ketu has undergone several lineup changes but has consistently delivered music that resonates with fans across Brazil and beyond. Their discography spans over three decades and showcases an evolution in style while still maintaining the cultural essence of their origins. Recent releases such as "São João do Ara Ketu" and "Carnaval em Casa 2021 (Ao Vivo)" reflect the group's adaptability and enduring appeal. The band continues to celebrate Brazilian culture and heritage through their music, bringing the spirit of Bahian Carnaval to audiences with each compelling performance and recording.
