Dirk Blanchart is a Belgian rock singer, guitarist, and producer, born as Dirk Blanchaert on February 18, 1958, in Ghent. He began his career in the early 1980s as a founding member of the influential new-wave band Luna Twist, known for hits like "African Time." After Luna Twist disbanded in 1983, Blanchart embarked on a solo career, releasing his debut album "Europe Blue" in 1985. He has since produced numerous albums and singles, including "Fool Yourself Forever," "No Regrets," and "L'Amour Ça Va," which are considered classics in Belgian pop and rock. Blanchart has also worked as a producer for various artists and has been involved in educational roles, teaching songwriting and production at the School of Arts in Ghent.
Blanchart continues to perform live and has maintained a prolific career, releasing albums like "Pretty Dark Album" and "Too Much of Everything." His music often blends melodic pop with new-wave influences, showcasing his inventive approach to songwriting and production. Despite never achieving international stardom, Blanchart remains a respected figure in Belgian music, known for his consistent and innovative output.
