Chu-Fang Huang is a dynamic classical pianist known for her expressive playing and technical brilliance. Born in Shenyang, China, she began piano studies at age 7 before moving to the U.S. to attend the Curtis Institute of Music. She gained international recognition as a finalist at the 2005 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition, where her performances of works by Rachmaninoff, Beethoven, and others were captured in the competition’s live recordings. Huang has built a career blending powerhouse interpretations of Romantic classics with fresh takes on Baroque composers like Scarlatti, whose sonatas she’s recorded extensively. Her playing balances fiery virtuosity with thoughtful lyricism, whether she’s tackling competition staples or digging into lesser-known repertoire. When she’s not touring, Huang enjoys collaborating with chamber ensembles and mentoring young musicians.
