Yyrkoon

Yyrkoon was a French death/thrash metal band that cranked out sinister riffs and occult-themed chaos from 1995 to 2008. Hailing from Paris, the group—fronted by brothers Stéphane (vocals/guitar) and Patrick Souteyrand (drums)—evolved from raw death metal on early releases to a sharper blend of technical thrash and groove-laden extremity. Their trio of standout albums, including *Dying Sun* (2002), *Occult Medicine* (2004), and *Unhealthy Opera* (2006), became cult favorites for their concept-driven lyrics exploring twisted medical horrors, cosmic doom, and Lovecraftian nightmares.

Known for tight musicianship and a flair for dark storytelling, Yyrkoon called it quits in 2008 but left a lasting mark on the underground scene. Members later popped up in bands like Sael and Glorior Belli, keeping that French extreme metal spirit alive. Their discography remains a go-to for fans craving ambitious, riff-heavy metal with a macabre edge.
