Kanta Dab Dab

Kanta Dab Dab is a Nepalese fusion band known for blending traditional Nepali music with Western influences. Formed in 2014, the trio consists of Sunit Kansakar on sitar and guitar, Riju Tuladhar on bass, and Nikhil Tuladhar on drums. Their music combines ethnic, traditional, and classical elements with rock and jazz, creating a unique sound that resonates with audiences. The band's name is inspired by a local mystical figure who used to play a damaru, a small drum, while asking for alms. Kanta Dab Dab has released albums such as their eponymous debut and "Mānusaka," and have toured extensively, including performances in Europe and Asia.

The band members are also involved in other musical projects and educational endeavors. Nikhil and Sunit are part of Mukti & Revival, while Riju teaches music at Kathmandu University. Kanta Dab Dab's music is not just about performance but also about promoting local cultural heritage through initiatives like Echoes in the Valley, which aims to revive folk music by setting up community art stages. Despite facing challenges, the band remains committed to their unique sound and sharing it globally.
