Mediha Şen Sancakoğlu
Mediha Şen Sancakoğlu was a Turkish singer of classical Turkish music. She was born in Istanbul in 1928 and began her musical career at a young age. She studied under some of the most renowned masters of Turkish music, including Sadettin Kaynak and Münir Nurettin Selçuk. Sancakoğlu was known for her powerful voice and her ability to convey the emotions of the songs she sang. She was also a gifted improviser and often added her own personal touches to the traditional melodies. Sancakoğlu performed extensively throughout Turkey and the world and was considered one of the leading singers of her generation. She died in Istanbul in 2018 at the age of 90.
