Marcel Bergmann is a versatile pianist, composer, and educator with a career spanning over two decades of international performances and collaborations. As half of the acclaimed Bergmann Piano Duo with his wife Elizabeth, he’s a laureate of multiple competitions and has recorded for labels like Naxos, Brilliant Classics, and Koch, blending classical precision with contemporary flair. His compositions—ranging from two-piano works to film scores—have been commissioned by groups like the CBC, Land’s End Chamber Ensemble, and the San Francisco International Music Festival. Beyond performing, Marcel has taught at institutions including Mount Royal University, Mohawk College, and the University of Calgary, while also shaping programming at Langley Community Music School.
Stylistically adventurous, his arrangements (like Mike Oldfield’s *Tubular Bells* for multiple pianos) and original works bridge genres, from cabaret to multimedia projects. He’s performed globally with the Bergmann Duo and groups like Alberta Ballet, and his recent releases include collaborative explorations of composers like Bolcom and Ten Holt. When not onstage, Marcel mentors emerging musicians through workshops and roles like Associate Artistic Director of White Rock Concerts.
