Yuriy Gurzhy

Yuriy Gurzhy is a Berlin-based musician, DJ, producer, and cultural curator originally from Kharkiv, Ukraine. Best known as a co-founder of the popular band RotFront and as one half of the cult DJ duo Russendisko with writer Wladimir Kaminer, Gurzhy has long been a key figure in blending Eastern European musical traditions with global genres like ska, reggae, klezmer, punk, and electronic music. His work thrives on vibrant cross-cultural fusion, driven by a desire to challenge stereotypes and celebrate multicultural identity.

In addition to his performances and original music, Gurzhy is known for his influential compilations and remix projects, often spotlighting Ukrainian and Eastern European artists. His 2022 project "Bandera. The Songs from the Hiphopera" and recent releases like "SKOVORODANCE" and "The New Donbass Symphony" reflect his continued engagement with the cultural and political intersections of music. Whether spinning records or composing genre-defying tracks, Gurzhy's work is deeply rooted in storytelling, humor, and a passion for sonic experimentation.
