The Enid

**The Enid** are one of Britain's most intriguing progressive rock acts, blending orchestral grandeur with rock energy since their formation in the 1970s. Founded by keyboardist and composer Robert John Godfrey, the band carved a niche with their lush, classically inspired soundscapes and theatrical live performances. Over decades, they’ve weathered lineup changes, hiatuses, and comebacks, maintaining a cult following for albums like *In the Region of the Summer Stars* and *Something Wicked This Way Comes*. Recent releases like *Resurgency* and *Dust* showcase their signature fusion of melody and drama, while live recordings (including the *Bridge Show* at Union Chapel) prove they’re still a force onstage. Though Godfrey retired in 2015 due to dementia, The Enid’s legacy endures as a bold experiment in symphonic rock.
