Black Friday '29

Black Friday ’29 was a hardcore punk band from the Ruhr area in Germany, active from 2001 until their split in 2010. Known for their hard, melodic old-school hardcore sound, they drew influence from bands like Cro-Mags, Youth of Today, and DYS. Their lyrics often touched on personal themes such as friendship, love, and pain, as well as political and social topics. Originally associated with the straight-edge scene, the band evolved to focus more on emotional and personal expression in their music. The lineup featured Björn Esser on vocals, Easy-D on drums, and Sven and Dennis on guitars. Some of their notable releases include the albums *The Escape* (2004), *The Pursuit of Happiness* (2007), and *Black Friday 2009* (2009). They earned recognition in the hardcore community for their energetic live performances and heartfelt songwriting before officially disbanding in 2010.
