Rainbow

Rainbow, formed in 1975, is a British rock band distinguished by its frequent lineup changes and the heavy influence of its founder, former Deep Purple guitarist Ritchie Blackmore. The band was originally named Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow and their music was a melodic blend of hard rock and neoclassical elements. Rainbow's early work featured the powerful vocals of Ronnie James Dio, who would later achieve fame with Black Sabbath and his own band, Dio. The group saw numerous changes in musicians over the years, rotating through different singers, bassists, keyboardists and drummers, with Blackmore remaining the constant driving force.

Rainbow's discography spans the latter half of the 1970s into the mid-1980s, with albums like "Rising" (1976) and "Long Live Rock 'n' Roll" (1978) solidifying their status in the pantheon of hard rock. Their sound evolved to embrace more commercial elements in the 1980s with Joe Lynn Turner at the helm, resulting in albums like "Straight Between the Eyes" (1982) and "Bent Out Of Shape" (1983). Despite the band disbanding in 1984, the interest in Rainbow remained high, leading to several reunion attempts and live releases, including historical performances such as "Live In Munich 1977" and "Monsters Of Rock Live At Donington 1980." Rainbow's dynamic and varied approach to rock, coupled with their exceptional live performances, has left a permanent mark on the genre's history.
