Rune Lindbæk is a Norwegian musician and DJ, born in 1970 in Vardø, a small fishing island near the Iron Curtain. He later moved to Tromsø at the age of four. Lindbæk's musical journey began with influences from his disco-enthusiast mother and his grandfather, who was an early record collector in Norway. He became involved in the Tromsø techno scene alongside friends like Bjørn Torske. Initially, Lindbæk focused on DJing but eventually transitioned into music production. He was part of several projects, including Volcano and Those Norwegians, and has released music under numerous aliases. His solo work, such as the track "Ok, Kjør Romskip" and the album "Søndag," showcases his eclectic style, often blending elements of disco, psychedelic, and electronic music.
Lindbæk is known for his versatility and contributions to the Norwegian Space Disco scene. His music often reflects a wide range of influences, from disco to psychedelic elements, and he has been recognized for his ability to create timeless pieces. Despite legal disputes, such as a lawsuit involving Röyksopp, Lindbæk has continued to produce and release music, maintaining a reputation as a formidable DJ and producer in the electronic music scene. His recent releases include remixes like the "Rune Lindbæk Paradise Mix" of "Fire on Fire."
