Britta Virves

Britta Virves is a talented pianist and composer from Saaremaa, Estonia's largest island, where she was born on April 24, 1991, and kicked off her musical journey with classical piano at age seven before diving into jazz and improv around 15. She honed her skills at the Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre, spent a year in Denmark, then headed to Sweden's Skurups Folkhögskola—where she met her killer trio mates, bassist Jonas Bäckman and drummer Jon Henriksson—before settling in Stockholm.

Now a go-to collaborator in the jazz scene, she's toured with the Norrbotten Big Band, worked with folks like Genevieve Artadi, Karin Hammar, and Kurt Rosenwinkel, and racked up accolades including a 2023 Swedish Grammy nom, Monica Zetterlund Scholarship, and Jazz Club Fasching award. Her debut album *Juniper* dropped in 2022 on Heartcore Records, featuring Rosenwinkel, while her 2025 Whirlwind release *Simple Things*—with tracks like "Mirrors," "Days of Lily," and a Genevieve Artadi collab—draws from her life, nature, and family vibes for that perfect mix of pop directness and jazz depth.
