Scour is an extreme metal supergroup formed in 2015, featuring members from some of the biggest names in heavy music. Fronted by Phil Anselmo of Pantera and Down fame, the band also includes John Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Agoraphobic Nosebleed) on bass, Derek Engemann (formerly of Cattle Decapitation) on guitar, Mark Kloeppel (Misery Index) on guitar, and Adam Jarvis (Pig Destroyer, Misery Index) on drums. Known for their raw, blast beat-heavy approach and black metal influences, Scour brings a relentless intensity with minimalist songwriting and ferocious performances.
They've released a trilogy of EPs—The Grey EP (2016), The Red EP (2017), and The Black EP (2020)—each offering a vicious, stripped-down sonic assault. Tracks like "Massacre," "Doom," and "Propaganda" showcase their aggressive style, with guttural vocals and high-speed riffing appealing to fans of both black metal and grindcore. Despite their relatively small discography, Scour has built a loyal following in the extreme metal community thanks to their pedigree and uncompromising sound.
