John Daversa

John Daversa is a Grammy-winning jazz trumpeter, composer, arranger, and bandleader known for his adventurous spirit and genre-blending creativity. Based in the United States, Daversa has built a reputation for his virtuosic playing and inventive compositions, often pushing the boundaries of big band and modern jazz. He is also an accomplished educator and currently leads the Studio Music and Jazz program at the University of Miami’s Frost School of Music.

Over the years, Daversa has led numerous ensembles, most notably the John Daversa Progressive Big Band, which blends elements of jazz, rock, and experimental music. His albums, such as "Kaleidoscope Eyes: Music of the Beatles" and "American Dreamers: Voices of Hope, Music of Freedom," have earned critical acclaim, with the latter winning multiple Grammy Awards. Daversa's commitment to music as both a personal and political expression sets him apart as a vital voice in contemporary jazz.
