Xenovibes is a musical project led by Shueh-li Ong, an Australian-born composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist known for her work with the theremin. The group's sound combines elements of classical, ethnic, electronic, funk, psychedelic rock, and Latin rhythms, reflecting Ong's diverse musical influences and training. Xenovibes was first introduced in Singapore in 2004, with Shueh-li being hailed as "Singapore's first and only diva of the theremin" by The Straits Times. The project has since evolved, with core member John A. Martinez joining for performances in the U.S. after Ong moved there in 2005. Notable albums include *Xing Paths* and *Music From Another Land*, showcasing Ong's eclectic style and innovative use of electronic instruments.
Xenovibes' performances are dynamic, often featuring a blend of traditional and electronic instruments, including the theremin, synthesizers, and drums. The group's live shows are known for their energetic and engaging blend of different musical styles. Over the years, Xenovibes has performed at various international events, including the Dallas Museum of Art and Moogfest. Despite going on hiatus after the release of *Xing Paths*, Xenovibes reunited for a mini tour in 2017. Shueh-li Ong continues to innovate and push boundaries in electronic music, collaborating with other artists and exploring new sounds.
