The Inbreds

The Inbreds were a Canadian indie rock duo formed in the early 1990s, known for their distinctive sound built around just bass and drums. Hailing from Kingston, Ontario, the band was made up of Mike O’Neill (vocals, bass) and Dave Ullrich (drums). Despite their minimal lineup, The Inbreds carved out a unique place in the Canadian alternative scene, gaining recognition for their melodic, emotionally resonant songs and strong live performances.

They released four full-length albums during their original run, including the critically acclaimed Kombinator in 1994, which was produced by Rheostatics’ Dave Clark and garnered a Juno Award nomination. The band was part of the influential Halifax Pop Explosion scene in the 1990s and toured extensively across Canada. After disbanding in 1998, they left behind a loyal fanbase and a catalog that's been revisited with reissues and sporadic reunion shows.
