Snot is a nu-metal band that emerged from the vibrant music scene of Santa Barbara, California, in 1995. Known for their irreverent and high-energy sound, the group quickly became a force within the metal community, combining aggressive riffs and funk-inspired grooves with the charismatic presence of frontman Lynn Strait. Their debut album, "Get Some," released in 1997, encapsulated their raw and unapologetic style, featuring a fusion of punk, funk, and metal influences, with lyrics that frequently reflected a sense of humor and defiance. The album's unique sound and live performances earned them a dedicated following and critical acclaim.
Tragically, Snot's rising trajectory was cut short by the untimely death of Lynn Strait in a car accident in 1998. The event profoundly impacted the band and the broader metal community. In honor of their late lead singer, Snot released "Strait Up" in 2000, a tribute album featuring guest performances from members of System of a Down, Korn, Limp Bizkit, and other notable artists of the era. Although the band attempted to regroup with new members and releases like "Alive," "Coulda, Shoulda, Woulda," and "The Band Plays On," Snot could never quite recapture the raw intensity and unbridled potential of their initial lineup. However, their music continues to be celebrated for its originality and intensity and holds a special place in the annals of nu-metal history.
