Allen Hulsey

Allen Hulsey is a New York-born musician, singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist known for his unique blend of electronic music with ethnic and world instruments, particularly Turkish ones like the bağlama and kanun. After studying jazz composition at Berklee College of Music, he spent over a decade living in Istanbul, where he began singing in Turkish and incorporated the country's rich folk and classical sounds into his music. Allen's style ranges from ambient acoustic to driving dance music, often combining traditional melodies with modern synths and house/techno elements for a truly genre-defying experience.

A world traveler from a young age, Allen has performed globally at festivals and venues including Burning Man, Scorpios Mykonos, and The Brooklyn Mirage. His band project Monality fuses electronic dance music with blues and Turkish folk, showcasing his skill at live improvisation with instruments like fretless and bowed guitar alongside electronic tools like Ableton Live. Whether through evocative vocals or his mastery of diverse instruments, Allen Hulsey creates a distinctive sound that connects cultures and eras in innovative ways.
