Royston Nash

Royston Nash was a highly regarded British conductor, particularly known for his expertise and passion for the works of Gilbert and Sullivan. He served as the music director of the D'Oyly Carte Opera Company, a group practically synonymous with Gilbert and Sullivan, for an impressive 12 years, from 1971 to 1982. During his tenure, he led the company on several international tours, bringing these classic comic operas to a wider audience. His recordings of the G&S repertoire are still considered benchmarks today, prized for their vibrancy and attention to detail.

Beyond Gilbert and Sullivan, Nash also enjoyed a successful career conducting other light operas and orchestral works. He frequently guest conducted for various orchestras and opera companies, both in the UK and abroad. His dedication to preserving and promoting the legacy of light opera earned him a devoted following and cemented his place as a significant figure in the world of British music.
