The Damned

The Damned stand as one of the pioneering bands of the British punk rock scene, with their origins dating back to 1976 in London, England. Formed by Dave Vanian (vocals), Brian James (guitar), Captain Sensible (bass, later guitar), and Rat Scabies (drums), The Damned distinguished themselves as the first UK punk band to release a single with "New Rose" in October 1976, followed by their debut album "Damned Damned Damned" in 1977. Throughout their career, they have undergone several lineup changes and stylistic shifts, delving into goth and psychedelic rock while never straying far from their punk roots.

In recent years, The Damned have continued to energize and captivate their audience with a stream of releases that showcase their enduring talent and innovation within the genre. "Darkadelic," among their latest offerings, is a testament to the band's ability to evolve while remaining true to their darkly energetic aesthetic. Their work including "You're Gonna Realise" and "Beware of the Clown" reflects the band's penchant for infusing their punk sound with a theatrical flair. Live recordings such as "Neat Neat Neat / Bela Lugosi's Dead (Live in London)" and "Grimly Fiendish (Live in London)" capture the raw and unvarnished energy the group is renowned for on stage. With "The Rockfield Files," The Damned pay homage to their rich musical legacy while pointing to their continuous progression as icons of the genre, leaving a lasting impact on punk music and culture.
