**Sian** is a Scottish all-female traditional band celebrated for their beautiful Gaelic vocal harmonies and dedication to spotlighting Gaelic songs written by women. Formed in 2016 by three gifted young Gaelic singers—Eilidh Cormack, Ceitlin Lilidh, and Ellen MacDonald—alongside multi-instrumentalist Innes White, the group was originally brought together by Fèisean nan Gàidheal for the Blas Festival to champion the work of female Gaelic bards. Their name, *Sian*, translates from Scottish Gaelic as "storm" or "the elements," capturing the powerful spirit of their music.
Sian's self-titled debut album, released in 2020 and produced by Donald Shaw, showcases a fresh yet respectful take on traditional Gaelic songs, mostly composed by women. Their rich harmonies and thoughtful arrangements have earned them comparisons to groups like The Staves and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. Members of the band have impressive accolades including Gold Medals at the Royal National Mòd and recognition as Gaelic Singer of the Year. Sian has performed extensively across Scotland at venues such as The SSE Hydro and the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and collaborated with artists like Niteworks, blending tradition with contemporary sensibilities while celebrating the depth and beauty of Gaelic song.
