Los Tontos

**Los Tontos** was a groundbreaking Uruguayan rock band from the post-dictatorship movement of the 1980s. Formed in 1984, the band's original lineup included Leonardo Baroncini on drums (also known for his work with Los Estómagos), Renzo Teflón on vocals and guitar, and Santiago Tavella on bass. Tavella later left to focus on El Cuarteto de Nos, and Fernando Rodríguez joined as guitarist. The band gained fame with their first album, "Los Tontos," released in April 1986, featuring hits like "Himno de los conductores imprudentes," "Ana la del quinto," and "El gerontocida." The album was certified gold, and they also achieved international success, particularly in Chile and Argentina. Their second album, "Tontos al Natural," released in June 1987, was even more successful, turning gold within a month. However, creative differences led to Renzo Teflón's departure, and the band eventually disbanded. In the late 1990s and early 2000s, Renzo Teflón revived the band without the original members and released new material.

**Recent Releases:** Recent remasters and live releases, such as "Chau Jetón" and "Los Tontos al Natural," highlight the band's enduring legacy. These remasters continue to celebrate their iconic status in Uruguayan rock history.
