Aubrey Johnson is a New York-based vocalist, composer, and educator specializing in jazz, Brazilian, and contemporary music. She holds a Master's degree in jazz performance from the New England Conservatory and a Bachelor's from Western Michigan University. Aubrey has released notable albums such as "Unraveled" in 2020 and "Play Favorites," a duo album with Randy Ingram, in 2022. As a respected educator, she teaches in the jazz departments at Montclair State University and Queens College. Her performances have taken her across the U.S., Europe, Asia, and South America, and she has appeared on over 40 albums, including Grammy-winning and nominated records.
Aubrey has collaborated with distinguished artists like Bobby McFerrin and Arturo O’Farrill. Recently, she was awarded a month-long composition residency at the MacDowell Colony and a grant from Chamber Music America to work with mentor Billy Childs. Her current projects involve touring with her band, supported by the South Arts Jazz Road grant, and continuing to compose new music. With a background rooted in both classical and jazz voice, Aubrey Johnson brings a unique perspective to her performances and compositions.
