Michael McGoldrick is a highly accomplished flautist and piper hailing from Manchester, England, born of Irish descent on 26 November 1971. Recognized as a leading figure in modern folk music, he has considerably influenced the contemporary Celtic music scene. Beginning his illustrious journey as a member of the influential group Toss the Feathers while still a teenager, McGoldrick quickly gained prominence for his virtuosic playing style. His talent later led him to co-found the groundbreaking band Flook and become a key member of the esteemed Scottish folk band Capercaillie.

Beyond these collaborations, McGoldrick has carved out a successful solo career marked by a number of acclaimed albums that showcase his proficiency in traditional folk as well as his ability to blend genres, creating innovative sounds.
