Celia Wa

Celia Wa is a Paris-born, Guadeloupe-raised artist known for her unique blend of traditional Caribbean rhythms and modern electronic sounds. She began her musical journey with the "Ka," a traditional West Indian percussion instrument, at George Troupé's school, and later focused on the flute. Her first stage appearance was at the age of 12, marking the beginning of a lifelong commitment to music. After immersing herself in Paris's hip-hop culture, particularly through dance, Celia Wa returned to music, releasing several EPs that fuse electronic music with traditional Gwo ka rhythms.

Her style, which she terms "Karibfutursound," combines soul, electro, gwo ka, jazz, and hip-hop, creating a futuristic soundscape rooted in Antillean cultural heritage. Celia Wa has released notable works such as "WA EP," "Adan on dòt solèy - Karibfutursound part 1," and "Wastral." Her music reflects a deep connection to her Guadeloupean identity and a passion for preserving West Indian cultural heritage through innovative musical fusions.
