The New Shining

The New Shining is a Dutch rock band formed in the summer of 2006 in Rotterdam. The band was founded by brothers Xander "Nax" Stok (vocals and guitar) and Vincent "Vince" Stok (drums), along with Arjan "R" Nijman (bass and backing vocals). They previously played together in bands like Lost Serenity and Chain. The band's name is inspired by Stephen King's novel *The Shining*, reflecting the idea of music as a unique form of communication. Their music spans genres such as alternative rock, rock, and darkwave.

Over the years, The New Shining has released several albums, including *Supernatural Showdown* (2008), *Hedges Against The Night* (2009), *Stripped/Full Circle* (2012), *Wake Up Your Dreams* (2013), *Elephant* (2019), and *Antidote* (2021). The band's sound has evolved, with *Elephant* focusing on themes of depression and mental illness, a topic that lead singer Nax has openly discussed. *Antidote* continues this theme with a dark electronic alternative rock style. The current lineup includes Xander "Nax" Stok, Arjan "R" Nijman, and Roel van der Sluis on drums, who replaced Vincent Stok in 2012.
