Wei Luo is a highly acclaimed pianist recognized as one of the most significant of her generation. Born in Shenzhen, China, she began piano lessons at the age of five and gave her debut recital in Hong Kong at just six years old. Wei Luo's career has been marked by numerous achievements, including winning the 11th Chopin International Competition for Young Pianists in Poland and the 2nd Rachmaninov International Piano Competition for Young Pianists in Frankfurt, both in 2010. She made her orchestral debut with the Shanghai Philharmonic at age ten and later studied at the Curtis Institute of Music under Gary Graffman and Robert McDonald. Her performances have been praised for their sensitivity and virtuosity, and she has released a self-titled debut album featuring works by Haydn, Prokofiev, Ravel, and Shostakovich.
Wei Luo has performed with leading orchestras such as the China National Symphony Orchestra, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, and the Kansas City Symphony. In 2018, she received the Gilmore Young Artist Award, further solidifying her position as a rising star in the classical music world.
