Hergest is a Welsh folk-rock band originally active from 1971 to 1979, known for singing in the Welsh language and rooted in the West Coast of Wales. The band featured members such as Derec Brown (Derek Brown) and Delwyn Sion (Delwyn Davies) and released four albums and two EPs during their initial run, with a couple of compilation CDs also available. After disbanding, they have occasionally reformed over the years. The group's music is deeply connected to Welsh culture and language, reflecting a folk-rock style that has endured through decades. One of the key figures associated with Hergest is Geraint Davies, a Welsh singer-songwriter and guitarist who began his career with the band and has been influential in the Welsh-language music scene for over 40 years. Beyond Hergest, Davies contributed to the band Mynediad am Ddim and has written songs for other Welsh artists, remaining active in live performances.
