Wolfgang Zerer

Wolfgang Zerer is a renowned German organist and harpsichordist, born in 1961 in Passau. He began his musical journey with organ lessons from Walther Schuster at Passau Cathedral. Zerer studied at the Vienna Musikhochschule, where he focused on cembalo, organ, and church music. His studies continued in Amsterdam with Ton Koopman and in Stuttgart with Ludger Lohmann. Zerer's career has been marked by prestigious awards, including prizes at organ competitions in Bruges and Innsbruck.

Zerer is not only a performer but also a dedicated educator. He has held positions at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hamburg since 1989 and has been associated with the Conservatorium Groningen since 1995. He also teaches at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in Basel. His work spans various genres, with a focus on Baroque and classical music. Zerer's performances and recordings have taken him to numerous countries, including Europe, Israel, the USA, South Korea, and Japan. Some of his notable releases include works by Bach, Weckmann, and Baroque recorder sonatas.
