Kenny Wollesen

Kenny Wollesen is a versatile American drummer and percussionist who's been a fixture in the New York jazz and avant-garde scene since the late 1980s. Born in 1966, Wollesen has collaborated with an impressive roster of artists, including Tom Waits, John Zorn, Bill Frisell, and Norah Jones. He's known for his ability to blend various musical traditions, from New Orleans jazz to klezmer, with his own imaginative flair.

A founding member of the New Klezmer Trio and part of the Sex Mob group, Wollesen has a knack for pushing musical boundaries. He's also led his own projects, including a marching band known by various names like the Himalayas. Wollesen's approach to music is rooted in the idea that it should be a free, public experience, reflecting his belief in the communal power of live performance.
