Zia Fariduddin Dagar was an Indian classical vocalist belonging to the Dhrupad genre, which is one of the oldest forms of North Indian classical music. Born on June 15, 1932, into the esteemed Dagar family, he was a purist who dedicated his life to preserving and propagating the Dhrupad tradition. Trained by his father, Ustad Ziauddin Khan Dagar, and his elder brother Ustad Zia Mohiuddin Dagar, he was renowned for his deep, meditative vocal style and his strict adherence to the Dagarbani tradition of Dhrupad singing.

Although he performed less frequently than his more internationally known brother, who was an exponent of the rudra veena, Zia Fariduddin Dagar was deeply respected for his extensive knowledge and his teaching, which influenced a generation of dedicated students. His music was characterized by meticulous attention to the nuances of tone and the precise intonation required in Dhrupad. His recordings, such as "Kalavati," "Raag Komal Ri Asavari," and "Raag Malkauns, Bombay 1968," serve as important documents of the Dhrupad form and a testament to his mastery.
