Billy Vaughn was an American bandleader, arranger, and composer known for his lush, romantic orchestral sound. Born in Glasgow, Kentucky, in 1919, Vaughn began his musical career as a trumpeter in the Glenn Miller Army Air Force Band during World War II. After the war, he formed his own orchestra, which quickly gained popularity for its smooth, easy-listening style. Vaughn's signature song, "Sail Along Silvery Moon," became a massive hit in 1957 and remains a classic of the genre. Throughout his career, Vaughn released over 50 albums and sold millions of records worldwide. He passed away in 1991 at the age of 72.
