TM NETWORK is a pioneering Japanese synthpop and rock band that first emerged in the early 1980s. Formed in 1983 by childhood friends Tetsuya Komuro (keyboards and production), Takashi Utsunomiya (vocals), and Naoto Kine (guitar and vocals), the group quickly became known for their futuristic sound and innovative use of synthesizers, helping shape the landscape of Japanese pop and electronic music. Their big breakthrough came with the hit single “Get Wild” in 1987, which gained massive popularity as the ending theme to the anime "City Hunter" and remains one of their signature tracks.
Over the decades, TM NETWORK has continued to evolve, pushing musical boundaries and embracing technology in both their sound and stage productions. Tetsuya Komuro, in particular, became a hugely influential figure in J-pop, producing for a wide array of artists. Despite periods of hiatus and solo activity, the band has remained active with periodic releases and live performances, including anniversary events and updated takes on their classic material. Their mix of nostalgic flair and forward-thinking production continues to draw in both longtime fans and new listeners.
