The Karel Boehlee Trio, founded in 2003 with members Hein Van de Geijn and Hans van Oosterhout, is known for blending jazz, classical, and pop influences into a delicate yet accessible sound that moves beyond traditional jazz trio norms. They have released several albums on M&I Records (now part of Pony Canyon) and enjoy particular popularity in Japan and Korea, often performing jazz standards as well as reinterpretations of songs by artists like Stevie Wonder and Donald Fagen.

The trio is led by Karel Boehlee, a Dutch pianist and composer born in 1960, celebrated for his lyrical playing and long career collaborating with jazz greats like Toots Thielemans and Philip Catherine. Boehlee is also a highly respected educator at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam. The trio’s music is characterized by its detailed, sensitive approach, offering an enjoyable listening experience that appeals to jazz lovers and casual audiences alike.
