Oslo Kammerkor

Oslo Kammerkor (Oslo Chamber Choir) stands as a testament to Norway's rich choral tradition, celebrated for its refined sound and innovative interpretations of a varied repertoire. Established in the vibrant cultural landscape of Norway's capital, the choir has been an active contributor to Oslo's musical life since its formation in 1984, under the direction of conductor Grete Pedersen until 2014, and thereafter led by Håkon Daniel Nystedt.

The group is renowned for seamlessly blending traditional Norwegian folk music with classical choral works, exemplified in their albums such as "Kyst Kust Coast" which explores the coastal heritage of Norway, and "Bergtatt" which bridges the gap between folk tunes and classical choral music. Their quest for musical excellence has led to both critical acclaim and popular approval with releases like "Beatitudes" and the thoughtfully curated "Prayers and Meditations." The choir's devotion to musically interpreting literary works is apparent in "A Passion For John Donne (Live)," a live album that pays homage to the metaphysical poet through song. With an expansive approach to their craft, Oslo Kammerkor has forged a distinct identity, passionately engaging with contemporary works and commissioning new music, as in "Messe for En Såret Jord," an environmental mass addressing the wounds inflicted on Earth. The choir's dedication to touching the depths of human emotion and experience shines through their rich discography, making them a revered ensemble in the international choral scene.
