883 was an Italian pop rock band formed in the early 1990s by Max Pezzali and Mauro Repetto. They quickly rose to fame with their relatable lyrics, catchy melodies, and down-to-earth style, striking a chord with young audiences across Italy. Their debut album, Hanno Ucciso l'Uomo Ragno (They Killed Spider-Man), released in 1992, became a massive hit and established them as influential voices in Italian pop culture during the '90s.
The group’s name, 883, was a nod to a model of Harley-Davidson motorcycle, reflecting their carefree and youthful spirit. Over the years, 883 released a string of successful albums, including Nord Sud Ovest Est and La Donna, Il Sogno & Il Grande Incubo, with themes ranging from friendship and growing up to nostalgia and romantic troubles. In the late '90s, Mauro Repetto left the band, and Max Pezzali continued the 883 project solo before eventually releasing music under his own name. Their legacy lives on as a soundtrack for a generation that grew up in Italy during that decade.
