Jiří Schelinger

Jiří Schelinger was a trailblazing Czech rock singer and musician, best known for his powerful voice and pioneering role in the development of Czechoslovakia's rock scene during the 1970s. With his gritty, soulful vocal style and charismatic stage presence, Schelinger became one of the first true rock stars behind the Iron Curtain. He gained widespread popularity with hits like "Holubí dům," a track that became a classic in Czech music history.

Schelinger began his career in the early '70s and later teamed up with guitarist František Ringo Čech, forming a band that helped introduce a harder rock sound to local audiences. His raw, emotional singing and bold approach to music made him stand out in a time when Western rock influences were tightly controlled. Tragically, his career was cut short in 1981 when he died under mysterious circumstances at the age of 30. Despite his early death, Jiří Schelinger's legacy continues to influence generations of Czech musicians.
