Romare

Romare, the stage name of British electronic artist and producer Archie Fairhurst, is a innovative figure in the contemporary electronic music scene, known for his distinctive collage-style production. He takes his moniker from the American artist Romare Bearden, whose work resonates with Fairhurst's own approach to music—a patchwork of disparate elements meticulously crafted into a cohesive whole. Romare's academic background in African American Visual Culture at the University of Paris feeds into his music, which frequently explores and integrates elements of African American music such as blues, jazz, and soul.

Since emerging with his debut EP "Meditations on Afrocentrism" in 2012, Romare has carved out a niche for his sample-heavy style and rich, textured sonic landscapes. His releases often unfold like aural odysseys, blending genres and historical sound clips with contemporary rhythms and production techniques. Albums like "Projections" (2015) and "Love Songs: Part Two" (2016) received critical acclaim for their inventive and eclectic soundscapes. Through his more recent offerings, including "Home" and immersive tracks like "Gone" and "Sunshine," Romare continues to captivate listeners with his ability to invoke a sense of discovery and nostalgia, while also pushing the boundaries of electronic music with his organic, soul-capturing beats and harmonies. Whether through remixes, such as the 1,000,000 X Better (feat. HONNE) [Romare Remix], or live sessions that display his improvisational skills, Romare's artistry remains an evocative journey through sound and history.
