Grupo Muzenza de Capoeira is one of the largest and most influential capoeira groups in the world. Founded in 1972 by Mestre Paulão in Rio de Janeiro, the group gained significant momentum under the leadership of Mestre Burguês, who expanded its reach to Curitiba in 1975.
Known for blending traditional and contemporary capoeira styles, Grupo Muzenza has grown to have a presence in all Brazilian states and over 47 countries worldwide. The group is recognized for its distinctive white uniform and its use of various capoeira rhythms, including Angola, São Bento Pequeno, and Banguela. Grupo Muzenza has also released several albums featuring capoeira music, contributing to the preservation and promotion of this Afro-Brazilian martial art and cultural practice.
