Srila Prabhupada is not a musician in the traditional sense, but a significant spiritual leader who was the founder of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), also known as the Hare Krishna movement. He was born Abhay Charan De in Kolkata, India in 1896 and became a prominent Gaudiya Vaishnava spiritual teacher who brought Krishna consciousness to the Western world.
In the 1960s, Prabhupada traveled to the United States and established ISKCON, spreading the teachings of bhakti yoga and the Bhagavad Gita. While he was known for chanting and kirtan (devotional music), he was primarily a spiritual leader, author, and guru, not a professional musician. He wrote numerous books, translated sacred texts, and established temples globally, playing a crucial role in introducing Vedic philosophy and devotional practices to Western audiences.
